Because the walls stand 8 feet tall, bulky light debris like cabinetry, drywall, framing lumber, and old furniture stacks up fast without you making twenty runs to a smaller can.

Here's the honest trade-off. Heavy material — dirt, concrete, brick, shingles, or plaster — hits weight limits long before a 40-yard fills up, and hauling a mostly-empty heavy box costs the same as a full light one. If your pile is mostly heavy, a 20-yard is usually the smarter, cheaper size, and we'll tell you that instead of selling you more steel. Roofing tear-offs are the common exception: a 40-yard handles the sheer bulk of a big shingle job, but we'll confirm the square footage so the weight stays inside the dump ticket.

Size also matters on the ground. A 22-foot box needs a clear, roughly 60-foot straight run to set down and pick up, which is easy on newer driveways in Country Club Estates or Sherman but tighter on the narrow lots and alleys around Whittier, All Saints, and Pettigrew Heights.
